TEST PREPARATION

Foreign universities often stipulate international students to submit the scores of tests like SAT, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL/IELTS. SAT

The SAT is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States. Introduced in 1926, its name and scoring have changed several times; originally called the Scholastic Aptitude Test, it was later called the Scholastic Assessment Test, then the SAT I: Reasoning Test, then the SAT Reasoning Test, and now, simply the SAT.

GRE

Graduate record Examinations or the GRE is a mandatory test to be taken by students desirous of getting admission to any masters level program in the

USA (other than a business related program-MBA/Management). The GRE is also accepted / required by some universities in Canada. The Graduate Record Examination is of two types- The General GRE and The Subject GRE.

GMAT

The Graduate Management Admission Test is a computer adaptive test (CAT) intended to assess certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA. It requires knowledge of certain grammar and knowledge of certain algebra, geometry, and arithmetic. The GMAT does not measure business knowledge or skill, nor does it measure intelligence. According to the test owning company, the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the GMAT assesses analytical writing and problem-solving abilities, while also addressing data sufficiency, logic, and critical reasoning skills that it believes to be vital to real-world business and management success. It can be taken up to five times a year. Each attempt must be at least 16 days apart.

TOEFL/IELTS

Test of English as a Foreign Language is a Standardized test that evaluates the English Proficiency of people whose native language is not English. TOEFL is a mandatory test to be taken for admission to any course in the USA and Canada. Some universities in the UK and New Zealand also accept the TOEFL score. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is one of the mandatory tests required to be taken for admission in Australian Universities (at any level). Earlier, TOEFL was also accepted. IELTS is also a must for obtaining the Australian visa.
